Each morning I sit quietly in contemplation allowing myself to receive inspiration, energy, wisdom and insight of Holy Spirit. While I have a very clear understanding of who, what, where, why and how God is, an understanding born of many years of reflection, study and exploration… there’s a part of me that prefers to focus on the spirit of God – Holy Spirit. As someone who wrote a book entitled Only God I’m not one to shy away from sharing the realization that in truth there is only God in everyone and everything, at all times, everywhere. Yet the word “God” can serve as a trigger for so many people of deeply held ideas about who, what, where and how God is that can be harmful to their overall well-being. In referencing the spirit of God, Holy Spirit, perhaps in reading this message you can relax into the implied subtleties of the energy, movement, insight, love and other qualities of this amazing Divine Presence, Power and Wisdom that is always at hand, operating for the greatest good for all of us. More importantly, perhaps you can stretch your very own consciousness on this wonderful topic: the Divine.
I’ve often shared that I cannot imagine what my life would be like without an ever-evolving spiritual perspective. For me spirituality isn’t about “woo woo” practices, particular garbs, dietary programs, vision boards, whatever number or type of candle rituals, or any rituals for that matter. Spirituality is about a deepening understanding and experience of the Divine as we journey through every second of every single day of our lives. That deepening understanding is individual in experience for there is not one single path to understanding all that which is Divine in this universe, but many. Most days I’m in absolute awe at what Holy Spirit brings forth in, as, for and through me in the midst of the day-to-day experiences of simply living.
Come A Little Higher
This morning during my quiet time I heard the words, “Come a little higher.” An image of grand mountains came to mind with me gripping along side one of them stretching my arm as high as I could and then launching myself with a faith-filled movement, a swing of my body, that allowed me to ascend even higher than my outstretched hand could have reached of it’s own. For visuals please check out exhibits A and B below.
Isn’t that what this journey is about? Aren’t we here daily leaning on our faith and spiritual perspective to leap through the circumstances of our lives and to indeed come a little higher in thought, word and deed than the day, month, year or even moment before?
Keeping it Real
Keeping it real with you means I have to be forthcoming about the practical application of spiritual principles. Whether your relationships, career, finances, mind, heart, body or soul feels out of order, can you lean on your spiritual perspective in full faith? Can you come even the slightest bit higher in your understanding to allow yourself to ascend the less than ideal or trying experience at hand? Most times, the slightest shift in perspective yields instant relief. Can you consider that what you may perceive as static periods in your life when there is no visible change or movement are actually extremely powerful active times of inner transformation?
As the common denominator in every single one of your experiences you have a tremendous amount of control as to how you experience your life circumstances. You can actually choose to trust that you’re always going to be inspired to take wise action. You can realize and lean on your inner inspiration and constantly access all of Divine Wisdom at the center of your being for guidance. You can cultivate your trust and ability to access the spirit, voice, energy and wisdom of Holy Spirit. That is true as pertains to your health, career, relationships, and finances as much as it is true for your spiritual growth.
During a session with one of my private students we talked about the details concerning the current confusion and dissatisfaction in her relationship. Once that was hashed out we were able to get right back on the page of healing truth. I asked, “What is your Spirit telling you to do? Shall we sit quietly now so you can receive guidance from within or would you like to do that on your own later? After all, you do realize that you already know what it is that you have to do?”
Sometimes we forget that we have a direct connect to the Divine. No appointments are needed. There’s no wait list, office hours or black out dates. At any moment on the journey simply let yourself get quiet. Tune in and up to the ever-present spirit of God. Suspend the temptation to analyze what you hear and feel. Allow and receive the revelations and sensations that come forth. Let yourself trust the Presence, Power, Love and Wisdom of God in you.
The only effort needed is that of stretching consciousness. Spiritual things are spiritually discerned. Our intellect dares to comprehend what our soul and what our spirit know. Yes, you can believe and rest assured in the spirit of God operating in, as, for and through you at all times and in all situations. Stretching consciousness to apply increasing levels of faith, conviction and assurance… that’s the task at hand. Do so lovingly. Remember: at your best you are Love.
P.S. Please don’t wait for some ish to pop off before you tune in and up for guidance. Make living grace a priority. Regularly tune in and up. Constantly acknowledge the Presence, Power, Wisdom and Love of the Divine operating in your life 24/7/365. K?
